Composition Project Post #4

I think this photo is an example of bad composition. There is no real focal point that stands out. My eyes aren't drawn in any specific movement. I feel that the photo lacks in a variety of colors shapes and sizes of objects. There is no real repetition of some specific object. Overall, this photo does not unify the elements of design.

Composition Project Post #3

This photo is different, but I think an argument could still be made for its good composition qualities. First, movement is created through lines in the wooden post piece and also on the wood from the deck, and the stems of the plant growing up through the deck. Your eyes follow around the grain of the wood over to the plant. The photo has an asymmetrical balance, and a balance variety of different lines, shapes and object sizes. The pattern in the wood post exemplifies good repetition, and also creates a definitive focal point for the photo.

Composition Project Post #2

This photo is another example of good composition. The flowers create assymetrical composition because both sides illustrate different sizes of flowers. There is a wide variety of colors, different sized flowers, and different lengths of stems and leaves. The focal point shifts from flower to flower. Our eyes are directed around the page with the colors of flowers and lines of the stems, creating movement. The elements in this photo are unified.

Composition Project Post#1

This is an example of good composition for several reasons. First, the sunflower has symmetrical balance since the image is pretty much the same on both sides. Also, the photo has a good variety of colors, shapes, lines and sizes. There is green, yellow, orange, red along with different background shapes from my deck and other stems. Then, the petals have repetition in the sense that they have similar looking petals. In addition, dominance is present making the sunflower bloom the focal point.
